scrap quilt progress

I am slowly making progress on my scrap quilt.
The blocks are all to sew them all together.
I am dreaming of summer picnics on this colorful quilt!

flickr finds

My youngest wasn't feeling too well this past weekend so instead of spending time at my sewing machine like Ms. Fisherprice, I spent much of my time rocking my baby.  It just melts my heart when I'm rocking her...she starts to drift to sleep...her eyes pop open and she sees me looking down at her...her eyes slowly close once more as she contentedly snuggles in again.

I created this little collage using flickr toys while browsing the web.  There is so much to look at on much inspiration.

just fabric

I don't have anything to show you today in the way of completed projects.
All I have are some pictures of fabric.

fabric charm packs

Planning to use some of this fabric to create projects from a book I received for Christmas...Handmade Beginnings by Anna Maria Horner.  Some cute projects in here that I am looking forward to making.  In fact, I have made a couple things from here already...just can't show you yet!

bunting banner

Another quick project using up some scrap fabric.

A bunting the girls' bedroom...I'm slowly getting it decorated!

It feels good to start and finish a little project like this in a couple hours!

library tote bag

I have made library tote bags for the shop but had yet to make one for my daughter...and she really wanted one.  I had some cute Moda Nursery Rhyme & Storytime fabric sitting in my stash, which I thought was perfect for this project.

If your little one would enjoy a library book bag, there is also one available in the shop.

works in progress

I have a couple projects that I am slowly getting done...doing a little here and a little there between other sewing that I've been keeping myself busy with.

First is the quilt I am making using up some of my scraps.

Then I have this little embroidery that I've been picking up and working on when I have a few quiet minutes in the evening.

Now if I could just have a few more quiet moments this might get done sooner!

Just a little story this Monday morning...

I took my 3-year-old daughter to preschool screening last week.  For one activity, the lady gave my daughter objects and asked her to say three things about them.  One of the objects was a blue button.

Daughter - It's's a button.
Lady - And what do you do with a button?
Daughter - You put it on fabric.
Lady - (a little surprised) That's right. Now that's a word I don't hear in here very often!  Does your mom sew?

I got a good chuckle from that!
Love that girl!

monkeying around

I had fun making Molly Monkey using this tutorial!  I have plans for her to sit nicely on the shelf and add to the girls' room decor.  We'll see if that happens or if they manage to pull her down.

She's so cute...right down to the little buttons on her shoes!

Have a great weekend!

I just hadn't had enough of sprockets so I made myself a sprocket pincushion.
Using the tutorial by Cluck Cluck Sew, this came together very quickly - a much needed break from the cutting, pressing and sewing I've been doing on the scrap quilt.
