rainy day activities

We had a couple rainy, dreary days last week, which called for some indoor activities for the girls.

Homemade Play Dough - my first time making this and I love it!  So much softer than the store bought stuff and doesn't have that icky smell.  Here's the recipe I used:

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 Tbsp cream of tartar
1 cup water
1 Tbsp canola oil

Mix everything together in a pot and cook over medium heat until it congeals.
Separate into however many colors you want.  Knead colorant in.

We also made some nest cookies.  Growing up we called these unbaked cookies.

Unbaked Cookies

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 cups oatmeal
1 tsp vanilla

Combine first four ingredients in a pot and bring to a full boil.  Boil for 1 minute.  Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal.  Drop onto wax paper.  Press mini eggs into the nest.  Cool.  Enjoy!
