bateau neck top

I was lucky enough to be chosen to test a pattern for Anneliese over at Aesthetic Nest.
The pattern was the bateau neck top, which I chose to make with knit fabric.
I had been looking for a reason to buy some fabric from Girl Charlee so I ordered some up.
They have a great selection of knits at a great price.

Shirt #1.  Such a great, easy-to-follow pattern with tips on sewing with knit fabric.

A very comfortable top.  Definitely kid approved!

Shirt #2.  I had fun mixing and matching fabric.  And the little pocket is just one of the cute details you can add to your shirt.

It was hard to get her to stand still so I could take a picture - just shows how comfy it really is!

I love how these turned out!  I think next time I use this pattern I'll make them dress length.

Thanks for the opportunity to test such a great pattern Anneliese!

baby sewing - quick change trousers + bibs

I did some sewing for my sweet baby boy.

baby sewing

I made him a couple pairs of quick change trousers from the book Handmade Beginnings.
I have used this pattern before as seen here and here.  Such a great pattern!
One pair fits him now and one is for this winter.

I also made him a few bibs, some much-needed bibs, as he is quite the spitter.
I used this bib template.

Always fun to do some quick projects.

patchwork sewing machine cover

My new sewing machine didn't come with a cover of any kind so I decided to make it one.
I used the pattern from the book Fresh Quilting by Malka Dubrawsky.

This was a good little project to use up some of my fabric scraps that I had already cut into 2.5-inch squares.  Each finished block measures 3 inches x 3 inches.

I like the scrappy look of it.

I also used some larger pieces of scrap fabric for the back.

It feels good to use up some of my scraps!

This past week was filled with happiness.
My sister and her family were in town and we had four fun-filled days with them!
To make the week even better, I received some happy mail.  I won two giveaways last week and received a fat quarter bundle of Glimma and three Lella Boutique quilt patterns!

With the addition of these, my to-do list just got a bit longer...

maxi skirt

I haven't sewn with knits very much but have wanted to try make myself a maxi skirt.
However, I decided first to make my daughter one - if it didn't turn out that would be less fabric wasted.
Following this tutorial, I made her a skirt in under an hour - probably more like half an hour!

So quick, so easy and so comfortable!

I can't wait to make myself one now!
