washi tape + googly eyes

My daughters love to craft and create.  My oldest daughter asked if she could use some googly eyes and washi tape.  I gave her the requested supplies and this is what she came up with.

I love when they use their imaginations to come up with their own crafts!

sun dress

I bought this knit fabric from Pick Your Plum and decided to make a sun dress for my oldest daughter using this tutorial. I'm still not very confident sewing with knit fabric but I keep trying.  The nice thing about knits though is that I didn't need to hem this dress!

busy board

My son turned one a couple months ago.  For his birthday, my husband made him a busy board.  I just thought I'd share some pictures here - he did such a great job!  The kids' favorite part is the PVC pipe - put a ball in the top and it comes out at one of the two bottom pipes.

fireworks quilt blocks

I have been working on a Fireworks quilt.  It's coming along slowly but that's okay.  I just do a block here and there when I find time.  I'm making this a queen-sized quilt so I have fabric cut for 30 blocks.
If you are interested in seeing more of this quilt as I work on it, you can follow along on instagram.

Pretty garbage from all that fabric cutting.

My first four blocks. I think I'm nearing the halfway mark now!
(please ignore all the loose threads on my blocks-I took pictures before I trimmed them up)

my favorite quilt

I decided to join the fun over at Sew Mama Sew and add my favorite quilt.

Although it is hard to choose a favorite, this one is special because I made it for my daughters.  I made this quilt back in 2011 using Hoo's in the Forest by Doohickey Designs with a few other coordinating fabrics added.  You can see more pictures on this post.  I used the pattern Small Plates in Elizabeth Hartman's book The Practical Guide to Patchwork.  This was the first bed-sized quilt I ever made.  (It is actually the only bed-sized quilt I have ever made although I am in the process of making one right now!)  Although I didn't do any fancy quilting, I did learn that I can quilt a large quilt on my small machine.  This quilt is on my daughters' bed and it feels good to tuck them in each night under something I made especially for them.

lea & lars is now on Instagram - I'd love for you to join me over there!

    quick baby gift

A baby gift made for a sweet little baby boy.
I've made so many of these baby slippers.  It's nice to get a lot of use from a pattern!
I was able to use my new Kam snaps for this pacifier clip.  They are so easy to them!
