summertime sewing/crafting

Wow, it has been awhile since my last has been busy.  A move, building a new home (well my hubby has been building it), a new baby, summertime fun.  I also haven't been sewing much since we are living in a little rental house for now with no room to keep my sewing machine set up but I did haul out my little machine for a few small projects.  These photos are from my Instagram account.  Follow me there to keep up with what I'm up to!

summer outfit - square neck top + capris

I don't think I've mentioned it on here, but we recently sold our house and will be moving the end of this month.  While packing up the fabric in my sewing room, I came across this fabric in my stash and decided some sewing was in order.  I used this quilting weight cotton along with some blue/gray linen to add an outfit to my youngest daughter's wardrobe.  The top is the Squared Neck Top by Tie Dye Diva.  To make it easier, I used a snap instead of buttons on the back.  For her shorts/capris, I used Dana's Basic Pants tutorial.

miss mary mack tunic and leggings

I finally made a trip to SR Harris Fabric Outlet (loved it!).  I picked up some quilting cotton as well as some knit fabric.  With some of the knit, I made a new summer outfit for my daughter.  The top is the Miss Mary Mack Tunic and the leggings are the free Leggin's patterns by Love Notions.  This cute tunic was easy to sew up, as were the leggings (and I love the comfy waistband on these!).

just hatched leggings

It's Kids Clothes Week this week, and while I didn't sew these clothes this week, I haven't shared them on here and thought it would be a good time to do so.  I used Rae's Just Hatched Leggings and made a few pairs.  This is half of what I ended up making!  :)   It felt good to use up some of the knit fabric I had stashed while cleaning and packing up my sewing room.  Less fabric to pack and store now!

ruffled baby lovey

Finally posting some pictures of a baby gift made for a little niece quite a few months ago.
I gathered strips of fabric to make a ruffled lovey, backed with minky.  Cute, soft, girly!

dizzy spell quilt

A finished Dizzy Spell quilt for my husband.      I used Lotta Jansdotter's Glimma collection, which I won a bundle of in a giveaway quite a few months ago and finally found a good use for it!  I didn't use any batting in this quilt, just backed it with a flannel sheet.  I really like lap quilts without batting as I find it makes them more comfy.  I also didn't want this quilt to be too warm that my husband wouldn't use it! dizzy spell quilt

the lucky girl dress

Life has been busy lately with cleaning, decluttering...  We're putting our house on the market in about a month so I haven't found much sewing time.  So, when Lucy Blaire contacted me asking if I'd like to try her new dress pattern, I jumped at the chance to have a quick-sew project and another opportunity to sew with knits.  Riley Blake also sent some wonderful knits for me to work with.  The Lucky Girl Dress is a very cute play dress with a lined hood and a full circle skirt, which is great for twirling!  My daughter loves it!  I found the pattern to be easy to read and follow and came together rather quickly.

I then decided to make my youngest daughter one as well using some fabric I had on hand.  I didn't have enough to make the circle skirt so I just extended the bodice pattern piece and made an A-line dress.  It's a little big on her (especially the sleeves) but I'm hoping it will fit her nicely this fall.

fabric destash

Hello again!  Not a whole lot of sewing happening here, although I did recently get back into the groove after the Christmas break (took me awhile!).  I have been doing a bit of cleaning and decided to do a little destash.  I have a few scrap fabric bundles listed in the shop.  Stop by if you're interested!
